Business Plan

Tuesday, February 7, 2017-Friday May 5, 2017

Class Project:

I'm in charge of the business plan for Delta Zero pre-production. I'll be researching past films and TV shows that share similar plots. The goal is to find the films that have done well in past so we can have a detailed plan to follow that has already proven to be successful. Ill research their marketing strategies, budget templates, and distribution strategies.

My goal is to have gathered theses 15 points below. So when the time comes gather investors or sponsors we'll have something to present to them.

1. Confidentiality Agreement

A Confidentiality Agreement, which is also known as non-disclosure agreement or NDA, is simply a contract between two or more parties where the subject of the agreement is a promise that information conveyed will be maintained in secrecy:

  • When it comes time to present the pre-production pamphlet to investors we'll have an attorney right up a confidentiality agreement/contract that we'll be available for them to sign if they choose to invest.

2. Executive Summary

The project, opportunity, capital required and shooting schedule:

  • Refer to the Delta Zero Files in the secure blog.

3. Management Team Resumes

Brief resumes of each of your principal team:

  • Refer to the Delta Zero blog for crew information.

4. The Industry

Analysis of the current Market and how it applies to your film:

  • Featured Length Films or Series on TV and online streaming mediums; such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime would be ideal industry for a low budget sci-fi series. The online streaming industry gives longevity to the production and allows a large audience to view it over time. It also presents a long-term production possibility, which could provide revenue for longer periods of time.

  • The Theatrical Film or Motion Picture Industry is a more risky/costly but the reward is often greater and seen faster. From a business standpoint the uncertainty of this industry may deter potential investors because the industry is dominated by the majors studios and their bottomless wallets.

5. The Project

Logline, Synopsis and Target Market:

  • The film while violent, seems suitable from people from the ages of 12 and up but more likely to be viewed by a male audience.

6. Production Plan

Estimated time frame for Completion of Financing, Date of Production and Post Production, Acceptance into Film Festivals, etc:

  • Refer to the Delta Zero Files in the secure blog.

7. Production

Details on status (bookings, contracts, etc) of Pre Production, Production and Post Production:

  • Refer to the Delta Zero Files in the secure blog.

8. Financial Plan

Budget Top Sheet, Tax Credits and Rebates:

  • Refer to Cade Colling.

9. Investment Opportunity

Return on Investment, Risk Factors:

  • A Motion picture or a featured length series is a risky investment (impossible to predict if something will be a hit or not), however with risks come great rewards. We can't promise a return on your investment, but we can promise a lower production rate then anyone else, due to our independent crew.

  • With a low debt/equity ratio, we'll have more leeway in pre and post-production allowing us to focus solely on the creative process at hand. We have all the equipment and experience necessary for success, an investment would be the final piece to the puzzle.

Film Marketing Strategy

10. Publicity

Time frame of announcement of film going into production, first trailer, advertising, etc:

11. Mediums

Names of prospective media outlets with their audience figures and how to applies to your market:

  • Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime:

    • Large variety of audience, increasing the chance of capturing the non-targeted audience. While also securing targeted viewers,  thanks to the relative suggestion algorithm's in these mediums, which will advertise our show our genre specific audience.

Distribution Strategy

12. Release patterns

Type of release to be used for example Wide Release, Modified Wide Release, etc:

  • The way or type of release can't yet be determined, until we've decided on a Featured Length Film or a Theatrical Film. Once the decisions made, we'll our release options relevant to the industry.

13. Methods of distribution

What are the potential distribution outlets? Theatrical, DVD, VOD, Airline, etc:

  • The way or type of release can't yet be determined, until we've decided on a Featured Length Film or a Theatrical Film. Once the decisions made, we'll our release options relevant to the industry.

Film Budget Template

14. Top Sheet

Your abbreviated Budget that is a summary of expenses and income that is also used in the Film Proposal:

  • Refer to the Delta Zero Files in the secure blog.

15. Detailed Budget
